I had a rough start to life in New Orleans. I lost my way. I've been in Georgia's DFACS program since I was 15. Despite all of the hardships I've encountered in my life so far, I have successfully made it to my senior year of high school and I hope to go to Spellman college or Georgia State, where I want to study for a doctorate in psychology.
I hope to one day open a center for teens where they can express themselves through poetry. I am a sincere, hardworking, determined young woman that is often underestimated. I am going to hold my head up high and make a good life for myself.
Brittany's Story:
I grew up in a bad section of Atlanta and did not have a normal childhood. I was abused as a young child and beaten as a teenager. I was emotionally neglected. Even with the rough start to my life I still have aspirations and goals to make a good life for myself.
I want to be happy and to go to beauty school to become a hairstylist. I enjoy dancing, singing, writing and really love to shop.
Christin's Story:
I was born into a loveless home. I experienced personal childhood trauma. I arrived at Elks Aidmore when I was 16 and my life was turned upside down. I didn't appreciate the support at first and ran away. I found out that life was not so easy so I returned to Elks to get my life together. I worked hard for my G.E.D. and am now in college where I hope to become a nurse so I can help children.
I love Chinese food, singing, dancing, acting and poetry. My idol is Alicia Keys. I look forward to a bright future far away from the stories of my past. I'd like to have fun the rest of my life.
Joni's Story:
I’ve been in DFACS since I wasa 5 years old. I do not know my parents and my brothers are in another foster home. I am blesssed to have the support from the people at Elks Aidmore. I’m a country girl at heart and love animals, hunting, fishing, horse back riding and four wheelers. I hope to go to college and get a degree in something that I can eventually work with horses.
